London-based start-up company Liforme has developed an innovative yoga mat with a unique alignment system on its surface to promote proper yoga postures. The eco-friendly mats, which are wider, longer and made from specially-engineered material, offer incredible grip.

Liforme founder James Armitage was inspired to create the AlignForMe system, a navigational tool to provide guidance, when he was told he was “out of alignment” during Savasana.

“I had practiced yoga regularly for many years, including as therapy for an old back injury, and really wanted a mat that didn’t slip and would hold me in the postures, and hence help me deepen my practice,” James said.

During the nearly five years of research and development, London teachers skilled in traditions including Jivamukti, Iyengar, Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow, contributed to the creation to ensure the cushioned mat could be beneficial for various styles of practice.
